This is my go-to recipe when I want a quick mac and cheese, it takes minutes to make and tastes almost like Kraft Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese,  don’t be fooled by the few ingredients this is a delicious creamy mac and cheese that doesn’t require any oven baking just prepare on top of the stove and eat right away…  you will find yourself making this often!

Notes from out test kitchen; amounts may be doubled but substituting anything else for Kraft Cheez Whiz will alter the texture and reduce the flavor

Servings 4 (small servings)

Ingredients:

1-3/4 cups uncooked elbow macaroni pasta

2 tablespoons butter

1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese (measure 1/3 cup lightly packed, for best flavor I recommend to use old cheddar cheese)

1/2 cup Kraft Cheese Whiz (no substitutes or clones please)

2 tablespoons milk or light cream

pinch salt

Instructions:————————————–

Cook the macaroni in a medium pot until just al dente; drain.

Transfer the cooked macaroni to a large bowl and immediately toss with 2 tablespoon butter.

Meanwhile prepare the cheese sauce (the cheese sauce takes only minutes so I make it while the macaroni is cooking) in a small saucepan on the lowest setting on top of the stove combine shredded cheddar cheese with Cheese Whiz, milk or light cream and salt stirring until the cheese is melted smooth and combined; pour over the cooked macaroni and toss until combined.

Serve immediately.

Sounds great. Does the milk go into the cheese sauce?
