Creamy Tomato Soup

Yield about 2 quarts

INGREDIENTS:

1/4 cup butter

1 medium onion, chopped

3 garlic cloves, minced (can omit and add in 1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder)

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

2 (14-1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained

2 (10-3/4 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup, undiluted

1-1/2 cups milk

1 teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste

1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper, or to taste

sugar, to taste (optional)

1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed

INSTRUCTIONS:————————————————–

In a large saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender.

Add in garlic, basil, paprika and cayenne; cook for 2 minutes.

Stir in tomatoes with juice, tomato soup and milk, salt and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes (add in a small amount of sugar if desired).

Stir in cream cheese until melted.

Serve immediately.
